Welcome to AMCIS 2024 Doctoral Student Corner!

The AIS Doctoral Student College is hosting a series of events to give you an inspiring and enriching conference experience. Our events will be held in person at the conference site in Salt Lake City. The events provide opportunities for students to engage with peers and faculty from all around the world.

Further, we are happy to provide a location for interaction between doctoral students. During our events, we will raffle several Amazon gift cards. So, do not miss out to join us!

Main Events Include:

Welcome Reception – Thursday, August 15 – 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM

This event is our official welcome reception for the Doctoral Student Corner. During this hour, students can casually meet and interact with each other on the conference site.

Faculty Panel – Friday, August 16, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

During the Faculty Panel collaborated with AIS College of Academic Leadership, various scholars will share tips and advice to doctoral students in terms of navigating the choice of first jobs and transition to faculty.

Faculty Roundtable – Saturday, August 17, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

During the Faculty Roundtable you will have the chance to talk to different senior scholars about crafting a distinctive academic profile.

Student Hangout and Conclusion – Saturday, August 17, 3:30 PM – 4:00 PM

This is our closing event for the Doctoral Student Corner. During the event, we will give prizes to the Scavengerhunt participants.

Eunyoung Kim

Eunyoung is a Ph.D. candidate at Florida International University and will join Mississippi State University as an assistant professor in August 2024. Her research focuses on exploring collaboration with artificial intelligence for organizational and individual decision-making. She has published her work in AMCIS and peer-reviewed journals in the IS field and has served as a reviewer for AMCIS, ECIS, ICIS, and PACIS. She also served as Region 1 coordinator of AIS Doctoral Student College in 2023.

Biju B Varghese
Rochester Institute of Technology

Biju Varghese is a first-year doctoral student at the Saunders College of Business, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), NY. He has several years of experience in the industry prior to joining the PhD program at RIT. His current research focuses on cybersecurity training. Biju has served as a reviewer for AMCIS, PACIS, and AOM.

Himasmita Das
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi

Himasmita Das is a third-year PhD Candidate in the Information Systems area at the Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. Her research focuses on digital technologies and small businesses with special focuses on smartphone, digital platforms and digital public infrastructure. She has published her worked in peer-reviewed journal and IFIP 8.6 conference and has served as a reviewer for IFIP 8.6, and AOM. Her research interest includes digital transformation, digital infrastructure, digital public goods, ICT4D.

Wenting (Kayla) Jiang

Wenting (Kayla) Jiang is an Assistant Professor within the Department of Management Science and Information Systems in Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University. Her research primarily revolves around two areas: misinformation and text analytics, and healthcare analytics and disasters. Her recent articles have appeared in the Journal of Business Research and Journal of Medical Internet Research. In addition, Kayla presented her work at conferences such as AMCIS, INFORMS, DSI, PRE-ICIS SIGDSA Symposium, and WITS. Kayla also served as a reviewer for AMCIS, PACIS, ICIS, WITS, and the Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education. Since 2021, Kayla has been involved in several volunteer work in AIS. She served as a Review Coordinator and Conference Volunteer for AMCIS2022 and a Regional Coordinator of AIS Doctoral Student College.
